Special Operations
Advanced Life Care
Iona-McGregor strives to provide advanced life care out of every station. Each crew has paramedics on it that have gone through two extra years of specialized medical training and have been certified through our District doctor and passed the state exam.
Hazardous Materials Team
Each station on every shift has personnel that have had special training to respond to a hazardous materials call. We also provide this service as mutual aid to neighboring fire districts. The team participates occasionally in a county-wide hazardous materials drill. This allows the team members to freshen their skills and work cooperatively with other teams in the event there is a large county-wide incident. Currently there are 36 members on the team. Each member is required to have 40 hours of recertification training each year with a drill at the end of the training.

Water Operations Team
*Boat Ops
Each shift has certified boat captains and divers that can utilize our new 36' jetboat. The boat was recently purchased and refurbished by our mechanics. We often provide mutual aid to our neighboring districts on the water on search and rescue calls. For pictures of the new boat, click here: BOAT (page is under construction)

Other Cooperative Efforts
Automatic Interagency Mutual Aid (AIM)
Area fire districts are working together on a system that will pre-program response information in the dispatch computer and streamline requests for aid between agencies.
Central Emergency Dispatch
All area emergency services (except for Cape Coral) are dispatched by "Lee Control" over an advanced communications system paid for by all the participating agencies.
Employment Testing Cooperative
Twelve local fire departments/districts collectively test people for firefighting jobs and maintain an electronic candidate pool and website.
Marine Emergency Response Task Force (MERT)
Iona-McGregor's Water Operation Team is a member of this multi-agency group who plan and coordinate responses to emergencies that occur on local waterways.

SW FL Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR)

Uniform Fire Code Enforcement
Fire Inspectors from all area fire districts are enforcing the same fire and life safety codes through an inter-local agreement with Lee County.
