Battalion Chief Ed Steffens –
As Fire Marshal, BC Steffens is charged with community risk reduction and the pre-incident Fire and Life Safety concerns of the residents and visitors to Iona McGregor Fire District. The Fire Marshal also is the Lead Fire Cause and Origin Investigator for determining causation of fires within the District.

Ed began his career in the fire service with the City of Ft. Myers Fire Department in 1985. With over 30 years experience in fire suppression, Ed has been a Firefighter, Engineer, and Company Officer, finally promoting to Battalion Chief in 2016. Ed has also been a successful entrepreneur in real estate investment, small business, and has held several sub-contracting licenses in Lee County. These experiences have combined to be indispensible values in the very public role of Fire Marshal.

The Battalion Chief’s formal education includes an Associate in Fire Science from Edison State; a BAS in Public Safety Management from Edison State; a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty University. As well, Chief Steffens is a Certified Special District Manager through Florida State University and the Florida Association of Special Districts. He has made several trips to the capitol speaking to Florida legislators on behalf of Iona McGregor Fire District.

Ed and his family reside in the Daniels corridor area of Ft Myers. He is married to his wife of 30 years, Diane Steffens. He has two grown sons; Sean and CJ. Ed is active in his community as president of an HOA, community service projects, part time minister, and youth pastor. Ed enjoys traveling, golf, and has a particular passion for American muscle cars.

Inspector Robert Newcomb –
Robert Newcomb began working at Iona/McGregor Fire District in July, 1991 as a Firefighter/EMT. After 13 years, he transferred to Fire Prevention as a Fire Inspector.

Inspector Jackielou Kipp -
Jackielou began her career as a Fire Inspector with Iona McGregor Fire District in 2004, and is currently pursuing her Fire Science degree.

Inspector Philip Daniels -
Philip Daniels began his career in the fire service at the City of Naples Building Department as a Fire Inspector/Plans Examiner in 2004. He was then hired by the City of Fort Myers as a Plans Examiner in 2005. In the fall of 2006, he became part of the Iona-McGregor Fire District as a Fire Inspector where he is currently in the process of obtaining his AS Degree in Fire Science Technology.
