Dr. Mary Ellen Dorsett
Dr. Dorsett serves as Commission Chair for the Fire District and is actively involved in the strategic formation and succession planning processes of the Fire District.
Mary Ellen is the CEO of Organizational Dimensions, Inc. A company she founded in 1984. She has earned a BA in Experimental Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, an MS in Psychometry and Counseling from Nova University, and her doctorate at The George Washington University in Organizational and Human Resource Development. Her research interests are organizational knowledge creation, strategic planning, and human resource development.
Mary Ellen provides consulting services and educational programs to emergency services organizations throughout the United States in the subject areas of leadership, organizational strategy formation, succession planning, and managing and leading change. She serves as an adjunct faculty member, course content expert and Executive Fire Officer Research Evaluator at the National Fire Academy/Homeland Security in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Mary Ellen has held these positions for the past 14 years. In early 2009, Mary Ellen attended the Fire Department Self-Assessment and Standards of Coverage classes presented by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. In late 2009, she entered the Florida Association of Special District's Certified District Officials program as a charter member. In October of 2009, she designed and presented strategic planning to the first Certified District Officials' class. Dr. Dorsett has been a keynote speaker for the Florida Fire Chief's Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Managerial Association of Emergency Services, and the Fire Rescue East 2009 Conference. In Lee County, she has served on the Golden Apple Committee, Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Foundation, Congressional Military Academy Selection Committee, and is a graduate of The Lee County Medical Society's Internship Program and the Leadership Lee County.
